Chapter 4, "Managing discussion groups," describes how to create and manage discussion groups and how to control user access to discussion groups.
Chapter 5, "Managing replication of articles," describes how to exchange articles with other servers.
Chapter 6, "Understanding security," describes some of the concepts behind private and authenticated server communications.
Chapter 7, "Generating and viewing reports," describes how to generate reports and interpret the information you see.
Chapter 8, "Maintaining your Collabra Server," describes how to set up article expiration policies, set up server maintenance tasks, run recovery procedures, and so on.
Appendix A, "Server configuration files," provides a brief description of the server configuration files.
Product names and terminology
For the sake of clarity, it is important to identify the following products and define some terminology before you read this manual.
Product names
Netscape Administration Server: This is a component of Netscape SuiteSpot and SuiteSpot Pro that allows administrators to remotely manage their SuiteSpot servers through a single interface.
Netscape Collabra: This is a component of Netscape Communicator. It replaces the Netscape newsreader that was part of Navigator 3.0.
Netscape Collabra Server: This is a component of Netscape SuiteSpot 3.0. It replaces the Netscape News Server that was used with Navigator 3.0, and supports Netscape Collabra. Netscape Collabra Server is based on open Internet standards and supports both enterprise and Usenet applications.
Netscape Directory Server: This is a component of Netscape SuiteSpot 3.0 that provides an LDAP-compliant directory service.
Netscape SuiteSpot and SuiteSpot Pro: These are suites of intranet and Internet server software from Netscape Communications Corporation.
Terminology
categorized discussion group: A type of discussion group that affects the presentation in the client interface.
A categorized discussion group provides a 3-paned interface in which the user can view:
music.classical
and music.rock
might be two discussion groups about music. Synonymous with newsgroup, discussion group is the term more commonly used in enterprise environments.
newsgroup: Synonymous with discussion group; newsgroup is the term used by the Usenet community.
newsfeed: Synonymous with replication; newsfeed is the term used by the Usenet community.
replication: Enables two news servers to exchange articles and share information.
thread: A series of articles contained in a discussion group. For example, if a user posts a message about how Beethoven spans the classical and romantic periods of music to music.classical.beethoven
and several people respond with additional information, the entire discussion is called a thread.
Usenet: The global collection of newsgroups. Usenet newsgroups are sent around the world, and their articles are stored on many servers.
Monospaced
font
This typeface is used for any text that appears on the computer screen or text
that you should type. It's also used for file names, functions, and examples.
Variable information is shown in italic monospaced font

The vertical bar is used as a separator for user interface elements. For example, Reports|Logging Preferences means you should click the Reports button in the Server Manager and click the Logging Preferences link.
