[Refereed Book Chapter] in Thiétart, Raymond-Alain (ed.), 2001, Doing Management Research, Thousand Oaks: Sage, pp. 375-388.
[Note: Revised and translated edition of a 1999 book chapter]
Writing is a fundamental part of the research process. Not only does the communication of a researcher’s work give meaning to research as a social phenomenon, but the quality of a study is almost inevitably judged on the evidence of its final presentation. This chapter outlines the different ways a work can be communicated to others, and then focuses on the primary medium: the research article. The final section of the chapter looks closely at the writing process itself, from the planning stage through to seeking feedback and revising your work.
