This guide is intended for system administrators responsible for installing the Netscape Collabra Server. It provides information about the software and hardware required for installing your server and explains the process for installing and starting your server.

After you install your Collabra Server, you can use the Netscape Collabra Server Administrator's Guide to help you configure and maintain your server.

Conventions used in this book

This section explains the conventions used in this book.

Monospaced font
This typeface is used for any text that appears on the computer screen or text that you should type. It's also used for file names, functions, and examples.

Italic
This typeface is used for variable information that you must supply.

Sidebar text
Sidebar text marks important information. Make sure you read the information before continuing with a task.

The vertical bar is used as a separator for user interface elements. For example, Server Status|Log Preferences means you should click the Server Status button in the Server Manager and click the Log Preferences link.
