Part of the Netscape CommerceXpert suite of Internet commerce applications,
MerchantXpert enables enterprises to increase sales while strengthening
existing sales channels, reducing the cost of doing business, and
improving customer retention through a tailored shopping experience.
Get Up and Running Quickly
Netscape MerchantXpert gives enterprises and service providers
a complete solution enabling them to open one or more online
stores to customers quickly and efficiently. It combines customizable
business functionality to manage the key aspects of personalized online
selling with the scalability and reliability of an enterprise-ready
application. MerchantXpert supports multiple catalogs and storefronts
and thousands of concurrent users, and handles orders from creation
to fulfillment. It is the ideal solution for either an enterprise
or service provider that wants to rapidly deploy a robust channel that
scales with growing demand.
Customize and Maintain Multiple Dynamic Storefronts
Maintaining an online store requires a responsive presence,
24 hours a day, 365 days a year. MerchantXpert flexibility

storefronts through business rules and presentation templates,
as well as add product or consumer information from a variety
of external sources. A browser interface enables any authorized
person, operating locally or remotely, to make changes quickly.
Expedite Searching and Ordering
Making it easy for customers to find products and services
and place an order is essential to generating new business
and keeping customers over time. Netscape MerchantXpert offers
a range of options that enable customers to easily locate and
purchase the products and services they need. These powerful
search capabilities include hierarchical menus, parametric
searches by attribute, or simple keyword searches. Comprehensive
checkout provides each customer with a single shopping cart, forms
filled with predefined account information, underlying details
behind tax calculation and discounts, product availability,
and up-to-date order status information.
Develop and Manage Personalized Consumer Relationships
Netscape MerchantXpert registration, profiling, and reporting capabilities
allow enterprises to tailor services to an individual customer.
To reward customers for their repeat or volume business, enterprises
can respond with directed pricing and discounts. These capabilities
foster a buying experience that strengthen customer relationships over time.
Maximize Return on Existing Investments
Netscape MerchantXpert integrates seamlessly into a firm's existing systems,
applications, and networks. Through external application program interfaces (APIs),
inventory, pricing, and credit-checking services can be linked to product
browsing and ordering. Added back-end integration options are available,
